VITA Tax Help

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) offers free tax preparation for individuals and families who generally make $69,000 or less. Trained volunteers from the UND Herr School of Accountancy are here to help—no appointment needed. Just walk in, bring your documents, and get support before the April 15 filing deadline.

When

  • Wednesdays | 5:00–7:00 pm
    • Feb 11, 18, 25 · Mar 4, 18, 25 · Apr 1, 8 
  • Saturdays | 1:00–4:00 pm
    • Feb 14, 21, 28 · Mar 7, 21, 28 · Apr 4, 11

What to Bring

  • Tax forms (W-2, 1099, 1098, 1095) 
  • Social Security cards or ITIN letters for everyone on your return 
  • Photo ID for you (and your spouse, if filing jointly) 

What to Expect

  • Prep session: ~30 minutes 
  • Filing session: ~15 minutes 
  • Translation machine available
