Greater Grand Forks Robotics Club

We are a non-profit, volunteer-led organization whose mission is to introduce students of all ages to robotics, creative processes, and critical thinking skills to help them get excited and passionate about S.T.E.M. (science, technology, engineering, and math).

We are striving to offer these programs at no cost to the student.  We work diligently to find support in the forms of competent and responsible coaches, financial support, and offerings of adequate places for FLL teams to meet.

FLL (First Lego League) is a structured competition program that runs from August to early February.  It will require a significant commitment from the student to meet with their group and complete assignments every week.  FLL is a program in which a student learns robotics, researching, presentation, teamwork and other important skills, both S.T.E.M. and life related.

2019 - 2020 Season

The season will run from late August through February. Teams meet once a week in the evenings for 2 hours, schedules and meeting locations are based upon coaches' availability.

We have approximately 40 spots for students to sign up for FLL this year. FLL participants must be 9 years old and can be no older than 14 years old as of January 1st, 2019. Students will be assigned to groups based on the following criteria at the discretion of GGFRC:

  • Relation to coaches (parent-child)
  • Previous experience with FLL
  • Age
  • Sibling involvement
  • Order of expressing interest

It is our goal to one day be in the position to place everyone who wants to participate on a team.  If you are not selected for a team this year, please do not be discouraged.  Sign up for the club meetings to gain valuable experience for years to come.
