The Greater Grand Forks Robotics Club was formed in partnership with the Grand Forks Public Library, the University of North Dakota Computer Science Dept., and the Dakota Science Center. It is a non-profit, volunteer-led organization focused on S.T.E.M. exposure to students of all ages in the Greater Grand Forks area. The club strives to offer this at no cost to students.
There are currently three group components.
1. FIRST® LEGO® League.
The FLL® season runs from October to early February. It is highly structured, and requires each team to build, test, and program an autonomous robot to solve a set of missions as well as research, develop, and share innovative solutions unique to the season's theme. Students must be 9 to 14 years old to participate.
2. Robotics Club
The Robotics Club meets during the FLL® offseason, and focuses on teaching students how to program robots. It is open to all ages.
3. VEX Robotics
Students use the VEX Robotics Design System to build a robot that will score the most points in challenges and skill competitions. Students must be 11 to 18 years old to participate.
