Halloween Costume Swap

Looking for a new (to you) Halloween costume? Come and check out what we've got.* We'd love it if you brought in a gently-used costume to trade, but it's not required. Costumes will be available for browsing on Tuesday, October 3, 5-7 p.m., Thursday, October 5, 5-7 p.m., & Saturday, October 21, 1-3 p.m. *All available costumes have been donated by the community.

Things Are Getting Stranger

Things are getting stranger at the library! In celebration of the popular TV show “Stranger Things”, join us from 2-4 p.m. for a waffle bar, a friendship bracelet station, and a scavenger hunt. A one-shot D&D campaign for ages 18+ will also run from 1-4 p.m. in the meeting room, and a Stranger Things Kahoot will start at 2:30 p.m. at the gaming TVs. There will be prizes for the top three trivia winners. Dressing up in 80s garb or as Stranger Things characters is encouraged!

Chess Club

Does your child want to learn how to play chess? Do they already know how to play but want to improve their game? Play and learn with other kids and build friendships in the process. Open to all ages. This program is made possible by UND Chess Club.

STEM@ My Library: Solar Day

Experience the wonder of science. Join us for sun-themed activities as we prepare for the upcoming partial solar eclipse. Activity stations include Sunspots, Sun's Corona, Sunflower Activity, Inverse Square Law, and Eclipse Photography with the Northern Sky Astronomical Society.

Grand Forks Public is excited to present Curiosity Club in 2023! This program is for tweens and teens (ages 10-18) and will include a mix of games and crafts on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month from 4-5 p.m. No registration required—simply show up and have fun!

Teen Dungeons & Dragons Club

Grand Forks Public will host Teen Dungeons & Dragons Club every second and fourth Tuesday of the month from 5:30-8:30 p.m. This program is open to ages 12-18. All experience levels are welcome. Simply show up, meet new friends, and roll with it!

Pints & Pages Book Club

Pints & Pages takes the library out into the community. Meet with other book lovers for a lively discussion and a cold one. Meetings are held on the second (2) Tuesday of every month at 6:30 p.m. Please contact accessinfo@gflibrary.com if interested in joining.

Life After Life Book Club

Biographies, autobiographies, and memoirs provide a window into another person’s life and soul. They also evoke a different time and place. If you enjoy taking a peek into someone else’s life, join the Life After Life Book Club to share and discuss life stories. Between the Panels Book Club

Between the Panels is the book club you need in your life if you enjoy comics, manga, and all similar things! If you are interested in joining this book club, please email accessinfo@gflibrary.com.

Partial Solar Eclipse Party

Join us on the front lawn to experience the partial solar eclipse on Saturday, October 14. The library will provide solar eclipse glasses for viewing. There will be solar activity stations from 10:30-11:30, and a NASA live stream of the eclipse inside the library. The maximum view of the partial solar eclipse in Grand Forks will take place at 11:42 a.m.

Family Movie Day

It's back! Bring the kids for a fun family-friendly afternoon movie on the second Saturday of every month at 2 p.m. We'll provide the popcorn; just bring your own beverage. The October movie will be Encanto (PG).

Music & Mocktails

Here we pour again! For the second year, join the Grand Forks Public Friends at the library to jam to live local music and sample some of the best nonalcoholic concoctions our community has to offer.

Sensory Storytime

Join us for Sensory Storytime on Mondays from 10-11 a.m. at Grand Forks Public_. Led by Anne Carlsen Early Intervention team, Sensory Storytime is intended for children of all abilities, ages 0-3. Enjoy a story, craft, and playtime in the community’s playground for curious minds!

Coffee and Conversation

Join community partners at GFP_ on the second Monday of each month from 1-3 p.m. Coffee will be donated by Archives Coffee House.

Looking for a night out without the kids, or a fun (and free!) friend hangout? Watch a new blockbuster or a timeless classic at Thursday Theater on the third Thursday of each month. The October movie will be Renfield (rated R).

Are you a mystery buff? Sci-fi fan? Horror aficionado? This & That Book Club is for you. Each month, we will read a book from a different fiction genre and get together for a lively discussion. Don’t like a particular genre? Give it a try, or skip the meeting that month - the goal is to have fun! Fright Night

Halloween isn't just for kids. Join us after hours at the library on October 27 at 7 p.m. for our first-ever 18+ Halloween event. The trivia will be murderously hard, the refreshments will be ghoulishly ghastly, and a monstrously awesome time will be had by all.

Haunted Stacks

We're back for another year of spooky fun! We'll have games, crafts, and candy. DJ Patrick will provide the beats for the best dance party around. See you on October 28 at 2 p.m. for a haunting good time.
